Clinical Psychologist, Teacher, Consultant, Writer.
Welcome. I am Stephan Tobin, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist with over 40 years of experience, first in the Los Angeles area, since 2004 in Oregon. I derive great satisfaction in being able to call upon many different methods of therapy to meet the unique needs of each client I am seeing in psychotherapy or therapist I am supervising.
Individuals: adults, late adolescents and seniors.
Couples: spouses, gay couples, familial and other relationship.
Therapists who are needing supervision and/or consultation.
Services offered to:
Long-term and short-term therapy. Short term treatment is generally for those dealing with trauma, phobias, panic disorders, and grief. Longer term therapy is generally for dealing with chronic anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, sexual and physical abuse, dissociative disorders and addictions.
Working with high functioning people to help them achieve more satisfaction in their lives and their relationships. These have often been people who have retired and are having trouble coping with this new period of their lives.
Supervision and training of therapists. I have broad and deep experience in the elements of existential-humanistic and psychodynamic therapies, including Psychoanalytic Self Psychology and Stolorow’s Intersubjectivity; Relational Gestalt Therapy; and EMDR.
I also welcome the opportunity to explore sensitive issues clients may have of racial, gender, ethnic, political and sexual identity. These may be difficult to address with me initially because of their sensitive nature. Therefore, I provide the space for them through time and experience with me to begin to feel safe enough to broach the topics when they are ready to do so.
